The CD-album with 33 recordings by Simon Karas in 1958 and 1964, produced by the Center for Research and Promotion of National Greek Music (KEPEM), Music, Folklore and Literature Archives of Simon and Aggeliki Kara (in 2010), is accompanied by interesting texts about the small mountainous town Sammakovi / or Samakovo, modern Demirköy on the NE of Eastern Thrace / European Turkey. Greek refuges from Samakovo settled in 1922 in Neo Sidirochori in Western Thrace (Rodopi District, NE Greece).
