‘Monody on the capture of Thessalonike by Ioannes Anagnostes according to his powers’ is a Byzantine lament over the city’s capture by the Turks in 1430. It is one of the four texts appearing in modern Greek translation published in the Chronicles of the Falls of Thessalonike, which includes a Prologue (pp. 9-10), extensive Introduction (pp. 11-65) and annotations by Paolo Odorico.
