Early Christian and Byzantine Architecture written by Richard Krautheimer and subsequently revised together with Slobodan Ćurčić is considered the classic work on the subject. A detailed study of Early Christian and Byzantine ecclesiastical architecture from the beginning (1st to 3rd c.) until the end (15th c.) and its effects on medieval states, the work investigates and compares the development of building from Rome and Milan to North Africa and from Syria and the Holy Land to Greece and the Balkans, Armenia, Asia Minor and, of course, Constantinople and Thessalonica. The 4th edition was considered necessary in order to take into consideration the many new studies and excavations. “Preface” pp. 11-13. “Preface to the Second Edition” pp. 13-16. “Preface to the Third Edition” pp. 16-17. “Preface to the Fourth Edition” pp. 17. “Maps” pp. 18-20.
