Data
The Lament of Chele and the Funeral of Katsaros is a wonderful account written by George Bakalakis, the late eminent Professor of Classical Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Bakalakis describes the Black Sea port-town Chele (Turk. Şile) where he was born in 1908, and the life of the refugees who came to Greece in 1923. He, together with his compatriots, they settled in a biter place, where there was no water: in a part of the Thracian plain which was an almost desert. The Lament is published by the "Syllogos of Cheleton" in Alexandroupolis, Thrace, in 1988. Plans and topographical data p. 14 and 17, bibliography p. 84.
