Christophoros Christidis, The September Pogrom: (Constantinople and Smyrna 1955) A contribution to the recent history of the Greek communities (in Greek). G. Stefanidis has edited the untitled “Report” by Christophoros Christidis, a valuable text about the September pogrom of 1955 (organized by the Turkish government against the Greek Minority of Istanbul). The original document consists of 211 typewritten pages and is housed in the Christophoros Christidis Archive in the Center for Asia Minor Studies. The publication includes introductory discussion about the author and Greek-Turkish relations pp. 13-37. After the introductory material, the “Essay” is divided into three parts: “Chronicle of a Catastrophe” pp. 73-155, “Questions and conclusions” 157-255, and “Extent of damage and compensation” pp. 257-289. Three Appendices pp. 291-336. Summary (in English) pp. 337-361, “About the author” pp. 362-363. Photographs pp. 365-373. Two-page map on which are noted the neighborhoods in which the majority of the Greeks of Istanbul lived. Total pages 376.
