This (trilingual) series, written in English and Italian with a précis in Armenian, present one by one the most outstanding examples of Armenian architecture studied in situ. They provide an exhaustive set of photographs along with a complete set of surveys and short essays to introduce the historic setting. S. Thadei’ Vank (the Monastery of the apostle Thaddeus, also known as Kara-Kilise, ‘Black Church’) is located in the mountainous area of the Iranian Province of West Azerbaijan, 20 km from the town of Makou and near the Iranian-Turkish border.
