Αντιγόνη Αρσένη, Κασταμονή, το Κάστρο των Κομνηνών. Μια αξέχαστη πατρίδα (Ζήτα, Αθήνα 1997)
Antigone Arseni, Kastamoni, the Unforgettable Homeland (editions ZHTA, Athens 1997) in Greek. Born in Kastamonu before the Exchange of Populations between Turkey and Greece (1923-24) A. Arseni, professor at the Medical School of the University of Athens, decided to write a book about her homeland: the mountainous town of ancient and byzantine Paphlagonia (NW part of Asian Turkey) and the whole area as far as Sinope / Sinop and other port towns of the Black Sea. But the reader must take in consideration that the writer is an amateur and thus the historical information is not reliable.
The valuable part of this study concerns the Late Ottoman period, from the 19th c. until the last days of the Greek presence in the area (mainly pp. 75-295); many family stories, a lot of oral sources and a rich photographical archive. Total pages 308 (hard cover).
