The gold signet ring with intaglio seal stone, inscribed ΔΕΞΑΜΕΝΟΣ ΕΠΟΙΕ ΧΙΟΣ ('DEXAMENOS OF CHIOS MADE IT') is among the most elegant works of the Classical period (c. 450 BC). It was found in a Scythian tomb in Jouz Oba near ancient Pantikapaion (modern Kerch), on the straits of the Cimmerian Bosporos (Straits of Kerch, at the entrance to the Sea of Azov). Ukraine.
