The Slavs in Greece: Contributions to the history of medieval Hellenism by Dionysios Zakynthinos (in Greek) is an historical monograph on the Slavs and their role in the development of medieval Hellenism. The author discusses the first Slavic invasions and settlements in the Balkan peninsula, investigates the linguistic residue of the Slavic presence in Greece, as well as the question of the assimilation and Byzantinization of the Slavs. The “Slavic question” occupies a prominent position and in particular the way it was used by the German historian Fallmerayer to argue for the total Slavicization of Greece. Prolegomena, pp γ΄- ς΄. The work is divided into four chapters: 1: “The Slavs and the first Slavic invasions” pp 1-14, 2: “Slavic settlements on this side of the Danube” pp 15-35, 3: “The Slavs in the Peloponnese” pp 36-66, 4: “The linguistic residue” pp 87-102. Total pages, 102.
